Arizona Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) have strong showing at National Leadership Conference

 

On June 24th , 2008 over 160 Arizona high school students and teachers attended the 2008 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference in Atanta , GA.   In order to qualify for this conference, students competed in over 50 different business related events at the state level and the top winners were chosen to represent Arizona at the National Conference.  With over 7,000 FBLA members from across the country in attendance, the Arizona delegation had a strong showing, bringing home 20 awards, including three 1st Place National Winners.  Below is a list of Arizona FBLA National Award Winners:

1st - Adam Maras : Computer Operating Systems – Ironwood High School

1 st – Megan Lee : Middle Level Business Procedures – Marshall Ranch Elementary

1 st – Patrick Gill : Middle Level Parliamentary Procedures
3rd - Brian Ackerman : Desktop Application Programming – Ironwood High School
3rd - Nathan Coury (Ironwood), Kevin Ehlers Sunrise Mtn), and Megan Ellsworth (Benson): Entrepreneurship
3rd - Jesus Espinoza : Technology Concepts – Metro Tech High School
4th - Isaiah Vallejo : Cyber Security – Metro Tech High School
6th - Dallin Lauritzen : Desktop Application Programming – Thatcher High School
6th - Christopher Chavez : Future Business Leader – Metro Tech High School
6th - Chris Pereira : Personal Finance – Kingman Academy of Learning
7th - Katrina Durham (Benson), Michael Meintel (Sunrise Mtn), and Alban Shemsedini (Peoria): Entrepreneurship
7th - Adam Maras : Technology Concepts – Ironwood High School
8th - Stefan Moreno : Help Desk – Benson High School
8th - Amanda Weech : Word Processing II – Pima High School
8th - John Pulvera : Introduction to Business – Millennium High School
8th - David Weech : Job Interview – Pima High School
8th - Glen Brown and Jordan Guymon : Management Information Systems – Ironwood High School
9th - Alicia Rineer : Client Service – Desert Edge High School
10th - Dane Arnell, Dallin Green, and Kellie Taylor : Digital Video Production – Thatcher High School
10th - Ben Youngblood : Internet Application Programming – Gilbert High School

In addition to competition, students attended the Institute for Leaders, to participate in one of three different leadership tracks that will help students improve their communication, team building and leadership skills through a variety of interactive and challenging activities and seminars. 

FBLA is a dynamic organization of young people who are actively interested in pursuing careers in business.  Fully supported by the Department of Education and Career and Technical Education, FBLA is an integral part of business and IT programs in Arizona . With over 225,000 members nation-wide, FBLA is the premier student business organization in the entire world.  Along with scholarship, community service and civic service opportunities, FBLA provides recognition and leadership activities directly related to attainment of specific occupational and leadership skills.
