Blog Post: AZEAC Partners with Maricopa Workforce Connections for East Valley AZEAC Career Expo 2008

posted Friday, July 11, 2008 9:18 AM

D.E. Huiett, State Chairman and the Arizona Employers' Advisory Council (AZEAC) Board of Directors is proud to announce it's partnership with Mr. Patrick Burkhart, Assistant Director, and his professional staff at the Maricopa Workforce Connections (MWC) Workforce Development Division, for the forthcoming 15th Annual Career Expo that will take place on September 24, 2008 (12:00p.m. - 5:00p.m.) at the Mesa Convention Center. There is no charge for jobseekers.

The AZEAC Career Expo, traditionally held at the Arizona State Fairgrounds in March, has been recognized by the US Department of Labor as the largest job fair of its kind the past four years (reaching 16,000 attendees in 2002 - and averaging 10-12,000 annually since).

The September 24th AZEAC Career Expo will kick off a new beginning - a new look - and a total continuing commitment to success for both our jobseekers and participating employers.

Beginning in 2009, the AZEAC Career Expo will be held twice each year - rotating from the East Valley - to the West Valley - and Central Phoenix areas. This is an exciting initiative for AZEAC and its public and private sector partners -- and we ask you to "mark your calendars" and make plans to register as a participating employer and/or jobseeker.

The special AZEAC Career Expo 2008 web site (www.azjobfair.com) is now active - businesses and jobseekers can now register for the event...we anticipate that the Expo will be sold out - so make plans now.

MWC's Workforce Development Division will serve as the Lead Project Coordinator on behalf of AZEAC - and Curtis Shaw of MWC (who is also an AZEAC Board Member) will serve as Team Chair. Jobing.com will continue to serve as financial repository and will work with the media / marketing Committee as they have for the past six years - George Thorne and Jessica Fraser will serve as Jobing.com's principal points of contact.

We'd like to thank our 2008 contributing sponsors / partners: AZNETPA, Sundt Corporation, Shamrock Foods, Circle K Stores, Jimmij Graphic Designs, Phoenix Job Corps, Arizona Workforce Connection, Phoenix Workforce Connection, DES/Rehabilitation Services Administration, Arizona Industries for the Blind, and the Foundation for Blind Children.

For more information on the 2008 Expo, contact George Thorne at 602-506-0653/914-7507 (george.thorne@jobing.com) or Curtis Shaw at 602-372-4884 (cshaw@mail.maricopa.gov).

Sign up NOW!!...See you in September!!
