Blog Post: PlaYinG a NeW TuNe in the WorkPlace....Elvis in Transition!
posted Sunday, August 31, 2008 9:12 PM
Reflecting on the work and life transitions many of us are experiencing makes me think of Elvis. The Elvis my mother swooned over. The Elvis I combed my hair like before I went with a Beatles cut. The Elvis that died too young possibly from work related transition stress. Think about!
What if he would have known that he could re-career and try something new? Would he still be with us and if so what would his new passion, calling and job be? Go to www.rhapsody.com/elvispresley and listen to some of his music if you’d like. One of my all time Elvis favorites is ‘All Shook Up’! That reminds me of my own workplace transition. WORKERS.... Do you feel ‘all shook up’ by changes in your workplace and wonder why your degrees / experiences don’t matter much when your next job offer pays low wages and minimum fulfillment? Here are 2 ways to PlaY a NeW TuNe: 1. Renew passion, calling and discover how to transition to a new job / career through the Boomers In Demand FREE assessment programs in the Center for Work Force Transition. 2. Mark your calendar to attend The Best Job Fair in Town on October 29th 10am - 1pm. Both opportunities are provided for you at Gateway Community College. Call 602-286-8500 or email jan.davie@gwmail.maricopa.edu for additional information. EMPLOYERS.... Is the economy of the workplace about ready to be ‘all shook up’ by Boomer retirements, experience base drain and a resulting downturn of your bottom line? Become one of a growing number of employers being proactive about the present future of the workplace. Avoid being ‘all shook up’! Flexibility Strategies for the Workplace is the topic of our next Present Future Employer Summit September 30th 8:30am - 11:30am at Gateway Community College SO1330 featuring national and local experts. R.S.V.P. to Jan Davie at The Center for Workforce Transition 602-286-8500 or email jan.davie@gwmail.maricopa.edu for this unique FREE learning event. See you next week on PlaYinG a NeW TuNe in the WorkPlace. Bridge Over Troubled Waters plays back 5 ways to inspire progress and discover the power of experience in the new workplace for YOU!
