Blog Post: Teaching others to make ethical decisions

posted Tuesday, September 9, 2008 3:08 PM

We all face the challenge of setting a consistent standard for making ethical decisions.  Usually, this is done through corporate training and development programs.  However, if you've ever taken any ethics training, you know it can be dry and unimaginative.  Programs such as online assessments, codes of conduct, stated values, and speeches to employees are all fine in delivering the message of ethical expectations but fail to engage the participants in a way that changes behavior.  Ethics training is viewed by most as one more compliance requirement, rather than an opportunity for dialog and learning new skills.

In my last blog I spoke about games as a training tool for retaining and applying the message you choose to deliver.  If that message involves defining ethics and setting a standard for your organization, what better impact than to have your staff walk out of the training room remembering the definition and standards!

If you would like to experience games and how effective they can be in helping you deliver effective communication, our next event is being hosted at Jobing.com on September 18, 2008.  There are a few seats left.  We'd love to see you there!
