Blog Post: Professional Development: Even More Important is a Struggling Economy!

posted Monday, February 16, 2009 10:16 AM

There is an increased amount of discussion amongst job seekers, recruiters and career coaches about what truly makes an indispensible employee.  Honestly, I could probably sit for days and days and list out all of the possible skills and characteristics that employers could possibly be looking for.  So in this case what can you as a job seeker do in order to continue to improve your value?  One good idea is to continue your professional development so that you can ensure that you are always on the cutting edge of your business and your skills remain current.

In many cases opportunities for professional development (conferences, professional organizations, courses or classes, certifications, etc.) can be costly, and with many employers cutting budgets that leaves little left over for extra training expenses.  However, there are still options – see below for an excellent opportunity for any professional women over the age of 18.
