Blog Post: Be Positive! I Know It's Hard, But You Must be Positive
posted Sunday, March 8, 2009 9:51 PM
Many of you are very worried about how you are going to make ends meet. You're worried about providing for your family, about your bills, and about when you will find work. You don't deserve this stress, and you're better than the situation you're in. The recruiters and hiring managers know this. They may not say it, but we all know the situation that 8.1% of Americans are struggling with.
With that said, as you job hunt, as you fill out online applications, as you call recruiters, as you network at various meetings, and as you interview, relax. Be positive. Do what you need to do in order to relieve stress outside of your job hunt, but do not allow yourself to commiserate with others during your hunt. You know this, but as a reminder, employers are gauging fit. They need to hire positive employees to keep morale at the office positive. I can virtually guarantee you that they will not consider a candidate who is not positive regardless of how amazingly qualified the candidate may be. You must be positive, optimistic, and upbeat when interacting with employers, colleagues, and other members of your network. So how are you going to cope with that stress? Do what you need to do. Exercise always helps, conquer household tasks, visit and unload with friends or family, or do some other activities that are active and that get you out of your house. There is no harm in talking with a professional, either. Remember that this, too, shall pass. Keep things in perspective--focus on what you can control and disregard what you cannot. Lean on your family and friends, and remember that everyone (EVERYONE) is wishing you the best. If you're worried about the quality of your resume or your interviewing skills, help yourself. There are low cost trainings and consulting services available. You certainly do not need to pay a fortune. Take a look at our seminars (http://www.careerdevelopmentaz.com/seminar.html). If you don't use our services, do whatever you need to do so that you are confident of your resume, your interviewing skills, and your strategy at getting employed! As always, good luck in your search!
