Blog Post: To Be or Not To Be!

posted Monday, March 23, 2009 10:50 AM

To Be or Not To Be! That is the question. Sorry, I don't get it. What is the question? If you aren't familiar with that saying, it is from Shakespeare's character Hamlet. He is a melancholy prince who learns that his uncle has killed his father and married his mother. The horror of this realization is so disturbing that he contemplates suicide. So the question to you is it TO BE, Or Not To Be? Will you go through difficult times and look upward and onward into the bright sunshine? or will it Not To Be and you only look at the dark, bleak cloudy side of the situation.

Life comes at you quickly and it definitely throws some wild curve balls in the form of difficult situations. You have to decide how you will respond. Here are some ways to make it a TO BE situation:

1. Call a friend to see how he is doing. Invite him to have a beverage and conversation. There is a verse in Proverbs that says, "There is one who scatters, yet increases more...the generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will be watered himself."

2. Take a child to the park to watch the ducks. Children laugh and enjoy life, no matter what. (Go to UTube.com and plug in Miles and Darby)

3. Write down three things you are grateful for today.  One of my favorite inspirational websites is daily-gratitude@aweber.com with Wes Hopper. In one of the excerpts from his e-book, "The Astonishing Power of Gratitude", he wrote, "We can apply the law of opposites and know that there is a benefit, learning, a gift somewhere in that experience with that person, (situation, company). We can find that gift, if we look, but sometimes we need to have some dis tance from the event to see it clearly.

4. Take time to laugh. You can laugh even though you don't feel like it and still get the physiological benefits from the exercise. Right now, place your hand on your midriff and laugh at nothing for one full minute. You  have 22% more blood running through your veins when you laugh ( University of Maryland study). (Go to UTube.com and plug in laughter clubs)

5. Expend some energy. Go for a horseback ride; take a hike up a hill (mountain) near you; take your family (friend) on a picnic-weather here in Arizona is beautiful right now; grab an old fishing pole and go fishing or, better yet, go fly-fishing. desertflycasters.com

So, you see, it’s your choice. You can make a difference in your life and in other’s. Winds of Change blow through your life daily, you get to decide whether it is it To Be or Not To Be. Will you choose the upward and onward course? You have that power. windsofchangeconsulting.com Life is short! Live it Now!
