Nammo Talley, Inc. deploys Earned Value Management solution resulting in IBR success

(MMD Newswire) April 16, 2009 -- Nammo Talley, Inc. announces successful implementation of an earned value management system that was initiated to support two contracts requiring earned value. Earned Value Management (EVM) is a project management technique for measuring project progress in an objective manner. EVM has the unique ability to combine measurements of scope, schedule, and cost in a single integrated system.

Nammo Talley announces successful implementation of an earned value system that is process based and maps to roles within the organization.

"We did enough research internally to know that earned value is more than just a few simple calculations provided by some off the shelf software, states Jim Speer, IT Director of Nammo Talley, Inc. Earned value is the culmination of project management disciplines and best practices. This management discipline called EVMS (Earned Value Management System) allows for quality output of project performance data. With the help of Tampa based 748 Inc, we were able to implement an earned value application with role based processes to support this system. Additionally, we feel we made a great investment in that we're able to bid all jobs that require earned value reporting or even an EVMS certification qualification for jobs over $50 million."

"As a supplier to Raytheon and the US Marine Corps of the next generation SMAW (Shoulder Launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon), Nammo Talley exceeded the threshold of $20 M in this program, states Nick Duke, SMAW Program Manager. Earned Value was required by the DOD due to this threshold and we needed a system and processes in place to support this requirement. 748 Inc trained us to get a basic understanding of earned value, configured applications and provided custom process and application training. The end result of this work boosted the maturity of project management in our organization and lead to a very successful Integrated Baseline Review (IBR) with the Marine Corps and Raytheon."

"As a supplier to Boeing on their CMS (Counter Mine Strike) program earned value management is required, states Rebecca Cote, CMS Program Manager. We needed to not only get a system in place quickly, but we also needed to understand how to support it throughout the organization. 748 Inc got us up to speed very quickly. They also assisted us in prepping for the IBR with Boeing. As a result, the IBR was a great success."

748 Inc provides professional consulting services to government contractors, engineering and construction, energy firms, transportation industries that are in need of project management and earned value management ANSI / EIA 748 compliance.
