Blog Post: Basic Step by Step Guide of How To Get Started On Twitter
posted Tuesday, April 28, 2009 11:48 AM
Here's the most basic, 10 step guide on how to get started on twitter. More good blog posts to come on using Twitter too. But for now, here's ten steps to take if you're not already on twitter.
1) Go to Twitter.com. 2) Click the green 'Get Started' button. 3) Enter your full name, username, password, email, and spam words. Here's an example: Full name: Jobing.com Phoenix Username: JobingPhoenix (You're limited to 15 characters here) 4) Click create my account. 5) If you have a gmail account, you can load your contact list to see what friends are on Twitter. If you don't, click 'Skip this step' at the bottom of the page. 6) If you want to follow celebrities, Twitter gives you some to choose from. If you don't want to follow, click 'Skip this step.' 7) Click 'Settings.' 8) Put your website in (if you have one), a one line bio that describes who you are and why you're on twitter, and your location. Here's an example: More URL Info: http://phoenix.jobing.com One Line Bio: Job Postings and Events in the Phoenix Area. Location: Phoenix, AZ 9) Click 'Save.' 10) Click 'Picture.' Browse to your picture of choice and click save. You should be ready to roll! There's a couple things in addition to remember. One is that Twitter doesn't always work. If a picture doesn't upload, you get a whale on your screen saying Twitter has too many tweets, etc., don't get frustrated. Just try again. As a bonus step, you should follow @JobingPhoenix by clicking on this link when you're done, and clicking 'follow.' Brett Farmiloe is the social media manager for Jobing.com.
