Blog Post: If it works when I plug it in, then I'm computer savvy...
posted Thursday, September 3, 2009 5:57 PM
I've never been an early adopter of technology. Even though I get the possible uses for some new product, I want all the bugs to be worked out before I attempt to use some new gadget. You see, I have a knack for hitting two keys simultaneously that always manage to blow up the program or the computer (or both). The IT guys in my corporate jobs used to love having me on their beta testing teams because I easily found all the programming errors and helped them fool-proof their work.
I was telling a new business colleague of my special talent for sniffing out technology bugs and my latest technology struggles. I told her that I was computer savvy Only if it worked when I plugged it in. Otherwise, all bets were off. She burst into laughter, but I got to thinking that maybe there's others out there who might benefit from my struggles and technology woes. So here are two products I found that worked right the first time and were so easy even I could manage to get them to work. www.DimDim.com is a great webinar software that does not require downloading onto your computer and offers free webinar hosting for up to twenty people. Please put me down for having referred you! www.flashvortex.com is a fabulous banner creator website. You can create banners for free, but for a mere $29 you can have an annual membership and get even more cool banner options. If you want to make your website pop and don't have a lot of bucks, this is a great option. Hope you enjoy my technology tips! For more insights, come check out our e-Factor!(R) public workshop on creating safe space to practice solving business and ethical dilemmas. The next program is September 22 from 1-5 pm at Jobing.com offices.
