Blog Post: Former U.S. Supreme Court justice Sandra Day O’Connor to headline Oct. 9 Alumni Association event
posted Friday, September 18, 2009 9:22 AM
Sandra Day O’Connor, the first female justice appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court and the namesake for the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at ASU, will headline a special event presented by the ASU Alumni Association 7 to 9 a.m., Friday, Oct. 9 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa. A trailblazing jurist whose roots in Arizona run deep, O’Connor served as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice from 1981 through her retirement in 2006. Prior to her term on the high court, she worked as a lawyer, an elected official and a judge in Arizona. She became the namesake for the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at ASU in 2006 and was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama in 2009. At the Oct. 9 event, O’Connor will speak about her personal leadership style, how she manages during difficult times, and what advice she has for anyone who wants to make a difference. This unique event is sure to attract a capacity crowd and is a great place to network with others who care about Arizona and contemporary issues. Tickets are $40 for ASU Alumni Association members and $45 for non-members. Tags
