Blog Post: Pursue the Passion E-book- Timeless Advice for the Aspiring Individual

posted Monday, June 11, 2007 3:32 PM

Writing a book is not as easy as you would think. It is a process, and unfortunately, it is a process that I still find myself in ten months after completing our 2006 tour. In that ten months I have found an agent to help with finding a publisher, written a fairly convincing book proposal and have sacrificed many weekends to write.

As the 2007 tour is just three weeks away, I felt I should have something of value as a result of our efforts from our 2006 tour. After seeing Drew McLellan’s e-book for college grads a few weeks ago, I figured that if he could do it, I could do it.

I dusted off my stone age Dell which stores the interview audio and listened to my favorite conversations. I re-read interviews posted on this site and copied down quotes. I searched through photos we took on tour. I reconnected with people I hadn’t talked with since the previous tour and told them about the one just around the corner. I struggled with formatting issues (PDF compression, the difference between Word ’07 and Word ’97-’03). In the end, I officially have a book to present you with from the 2006 tour.

The book summarizes the advice we gathered into topics commonly discussed in our interviews. Topics like Passion, Fear, Money, the Journey of Life, Careers…all advice specifically for people who want to be passionate and successful in their work. This book reads more like a photo album than a novel and shouldn’t take you more than fifteen or twenty minutes to breeze through.

With that, I proudly present to you “Timeless Advice for the Aspiring Individual.” I hope that you spread this book as far as it can be spread because it deserves it. This is the culmination of advice based on the life journeys of 75 people who pursued their passion, compiled by a recent grad who is in the process of pursuing his.
