Blog Post: 9/18 Matt Moran's Visit to SJN
posted Wednesday, September 19, 2007 9:11 AM
At SJN (Scottsdale Job Network) yesterday, we had a lively meeting with Matt Moran, business consultant and author, http://www.KreativeKnowledge.com inspiring the audience of 55 on being indispensable at work.
We were also given a short presentation by Karen England and Al Walsh, Gould Intelligent LLC, www.gouldintelligent.com on the role of the recruiter in the job search. Read feedback offered by some participants in answer to the question, "What did you like best about the meeting?" Excellent speaker Very helpful, informative. “Another day, another friend” – great message. We are continuing our career path while in transition. Recruiters were available. Matt had a good topic that related to the group. Matt Moran was outstanding! The presentation on recruiting, and Matt. Good info. The format is good and casual. Speakers are exceptional and have been helpful. Great place to make contacts, meet others. Great speaker. The programs presented. Just landed a new position, I enjoyed his info on mindset and on the job mentality. Openness. Good perspective described by recruiters. Hearing new ideas, job hunting skills, networking. Both speakers were very helpful. Met someone whom I have been wanting to talk to for several months. - - - - - - - - - - Job seekers, employers and recruiters are welcome to join us for our NEXT MEETING: OCT 2 Guest speaker: Peter Polk , Retired Healthcare Executive Governor's Task Force on Aging, Mature Worker Initiative Presenting: Conversational Rituals How can we overcome frustrations and avoid misunderstandings that result from gender differences in conversational style? When conversational rituals are not understood, we tend to interpret them literally = misinterpreting the speakers intentions and abilities. In every office, no matter what part of the world, and no matter what kind of business, there's one activity without which no work could ever get done ...... Talking. In any job search, effective talking at an interview can result from knowing conversational style to apply whether the interviewer is a man or woman. Happy Networking! Chris Vicari Tags
