Blog Post: Yes, It's Hard

One of my favorite clients is a company called Succeed Corporation, which this year was named to the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing private companies in the US : they’re #50! Based in Mesa , Arizona, one of their products is called Internet Speedway, which allows nearly anyone to quickly and easily set up an eCommerce website. Many customers are very successful!
But some are not. Why? Many times it’s because they think it’s EASY to set up a business and the world will rush to their door to buy from them. Guess what? Just like any business, creativity, flexibility, resourcefulness and hard work are required. Internet Speedway is a great tool for success, AND it requires user input. How is Internet Speedway different from any tool in business? All require that you use them wisely. This week a job searcher sent me an e-mail with a list of all the things that people hadn’t done for her. ‘I gave my advisor a suggestion but he didn’t do anything about it.’ Oh really? Had you thought that your advisor is a human being and might need help to understand how important it is to you, AND what’s in it for them? If it’s really important to you, have you presented your idea as a win-win? And if not, why not? Who turns down a win? Yes, it’s hard. I’m not talking about the Bush family, I’m talking about the rest of us without the silver spoons. We need to work for a living and work hard at it. Don’t be discouraged when things don’t go your way. Try being more flexible and creative - - - and you’ll be amazed at the doors that open on the second or third try - in business or searching for a job. You will succeed!
