Blog Post: Southwest Central 2008 Regional SHRM Student HRGames & Conference
posted Monday, March 31, 2008 1:36 PM
I had the great opportunity to attend the Southwest Central 2008 Regional SHRM HRGames & Conference this weekend. In attending the sessions, the first speaker, Tara Sunder, Do What You Love, was both inspiring and informative. Through Tara sharing her journey about her career, she gave me pointers on a career path that will benefit me in my academic and personal journey. Her enthusiasm and love of life gave me new direction and new ideas for my personal and professional journeys.
The networking dinner was helpful in meeting the HR professionals and getting to know the students and the many challenges they encountered getting to the HRGames. I have a new respect for the student teams and the hard work they endure. I was impressed with “Generation Y” and how prepared and dedicated they are to the HR profession. We have some very bright and talented professionals to carry on the integrity of the HR profession. The most memorable session of the conference was “the 7 keys to highly successful people” facilitated by Virginia Moody. She loves what she does and her passion for people is infectious. Ms. Moody had a knack at making people feel welcome, comfortable; and sharing her story about her personal journey gave me new hope for my career path. Her tips and experience will be a big help for my professional journey. I made new friends, had a great time and loved San Antonio . Thank you University of Texas San Antonio for your hospitality and generosity. Thank you Monika Masciangelo and SHRM – I am grateful for this wonderful experience, I learned a lot and had a great time!
