Profile: The New Foundation

The New Foundation

The New Foundation, located in Scottsdale Arizona,  is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing quality behavioral health and education programs to youth and their families; utilizing the most effective services available.

Since 1970, The New Foundation has been working with teens and their families. Adolescents, ages 11 through 17, male and female, enter the programs and services at The New Foundation only after making a commitment to work hard at effecting positive change in their lives.

The New Foundation is a 53 bed, residential, treatment facility serving at risk, economically disadvantaged, culturally diverse, adolescents from the state of Arizona, including Native American Reservation lands, with an emphasis on Maricopa County. We address the needs of children, who are emotionally and/or behaviorally impaired, through a "continuum of care" approach using individualized, highly structured, and supervised programs. The original mission of providing therapy in a home like atmosphere has grown into a multi-service treatment and educational environment.

The New Foundation is situated on a three-acre campus located in southeast Scottsdale not far from the Los Arcos Redevelopment area. Our facility and programs have been accredited by the joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations since 1994. We provide year round school in our Marion Burton School, which is approved by the Arizona Department of education for special education (ED.LD) and is accredited by the North Central Association for non-special education programs.

The New Foundation's Guiding Principles:

1. It is our responsibility to engage the family.

2. As a treatment team we display unconditional regard for the client and family.

3. All families have strengths that help them get through the rough times. We need to identify these strengths and capitalize on them.

4. All families define their own culture.

5. Needs are different for each child and family.

6. The child and the family must identify their needs.

7. Our goal is to help the child and family with what they need.

8. All acting out behavior is the result of unmet needs.

9. One intervention does not meet everyone's needs.

The New Foundation's unique "continuum of care" approach provides teens, ages 11-17, both males and females, the ability to move through various levels of care without changing locations, care givers or teachers.
