Jobing Description
Responsible for acquisition of new foodservice accounts within the designated geography. Products represented include: Shamrock Farms branded ESL/UHT milks and milk beverages, and Shamrock Farms branded/unbranded half & half, whipping cream, sour cream, cottage cheese and other dairy products. Foodservice accounts include: restaurants (limited-service, full-service), healthcare, university/college, high schools, hospitality, leisure and lodging locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Candidate must have the knowledge, skill and/or ability to:
Develop and implement strategic sales plans to accommodate individual and corporate goals.
Compile lists of prospective foodservice customers using data from newspapers, business directories, trade publications, and other sources.
Plan and execute sales calls on prospective customers, including corporate and franchisee ownership groups. Includes developing and delivering sales presentations and conducting product sampling.
Use a consultative, solutions-oriented, value-based approach to gaining incremental accounts.
Communicate dairy program prices and terms, and prepare sales agreements and other documents as needed.
Collaborate with Customer Service on distribution logistics and timing.
Collaborate with other team members and functional departments to achieve individual and departmental goals.
Develop and manage relationships with Distribution Centers, including broadliners and regional/local foodservice distributors.
Develop sales and profit forecasts.
Manage actual performance versus plan. Develops contingency plans as needed.
Represent Shamrock Farms’ products at industry/association trade meetings and customer trade shows.
Travel both within and outside Region as needed to accomplish objectives.
Develop and maintain a deep understanding of industry, customer and consumer trends.
Prepare reports of business/customer business development activity and monthly travel expenses.
Contribute positively to the culture, business and productivity of the team.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Achieves the sales, profit, and selling expense goals as measured by the External Sales Foodservice team P&L.

Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Able to solve problems and develop solutions when dealing with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Able to think strategically and tactically.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Experience using consultative, solution-driven and value-based selling approaches.
Able to develop productive business relationships, both internally and externally.
Leadership skills: able to motivate others and communicate common vision.
Able to work independently with limited supervision. Must be self motivated.
Able to work from a home office.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Possess a current valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.



Skills / Requirements
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prefer candidates with dairy, beverage, branded product and/or contract foodservice experience
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Able to calculate amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, margins, percentages, and volume.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Able to use a laptop computer.
Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Able to develop and manipulate written documents, presentations and spreadsheets.
Excellent knowledge of internet, e-mail and calendaring software.
