Job: Accounting Specialist ll

Sunwest Federal Credit Union is looking for a hard working, detail oriented full-time Accounting Speicalist ll to join our team! We're a non-profit, member owned credit union that takes great pride in providing high levels of service to our members.

In this position you will do the following:

Responsible for processing, controlling and balancing of daily, weekly and monthly credit union activity in an accurate and timely manner. Position is responsible for daily verification of compliance risk areas including dormant account maintenance and escheatment. Provide backup to various positions in the accounting department. Responsible for ensuring exceptional service is provided to members and staff through the daily activities of self and all subordinates (if applicable).

Accounts Payable Processing
Balance various loan related insurance products sold and remit payments
(Extended Warrantee, Gap, Life Insurance, Disability Insurance).
Process various loan related insurance product refunds and cancellations
(Extended Warrantee, Gap Insurance).
Reconcile various General Ledger accounts, prepare monthly
Certifications of the Trial Balance. Provide financial statistical reporting
for various products and programs.
. Maintain various audit and budget schedules
. Provide Loan Quality Control function.
Process and reconcile recurring entries monthly.
Process and maintain offline First Mortgage products and spreadsheets.
Review and maintain dormant accounts, to include the escheatment of
member accounts, official and cashiers checks.
Perform and balance Travelers Check and Safe Deposit Box inventories
quarterly.
Perform member wire transfer transactions, maintain various wire
spreadsheets on a daily basis. Perform various miscellaneous tasks
assigned as necessary, including member transactions.

Knowledge Required: (Includes formal education and on-the-job training, licensure, etc.)

College graduate with degree in finance, business or Accounting or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Extensive knowledge of general ledger and accounting principles required. Data processing course work helpful.
