The Health Occupations Instructor MA will provide quality & professional level hands on instruction & training in a Medical Assistant training program. Provided individual& group instructors from the approved curriculum, with current & up-to-date guidance to obtain an MA certification. Training involves classroom & clinical instructions. Will monitor trainees progress, skills, performance, attendance & behavior. Complete reports & documentation. Be active with CDSS, CSS, CTS, Social & Employability training,& behavior management program.
The Instructor will work with the CT Specialist in work base learning & job development & preparing trainee to transition to work environment. Will perform other related duties and responsibilities as directed by the supervisor. Training days are Monday - Friday 07:45 am to 03:15 pm. The instructor will have the immediate responsibility for the development, management and teaching of a curriculum which will qualify completing students for certification as a Medical Assistant. Instructor will perform a variety of routine duties to teach Medical Assistant to students from different backgrounds, ethnicity, nationalities, gender, ages, religions, or disabilities in the classroom and in the lab using a variety of teaching methods such as lectures and demonstrations and using audiovisual and technological aids to supplement the instruction. PRIMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, but are not limited to: * Plan, develop & teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning as it relates to preparing students for employment & certification in the medical assisting profession. * Implement & evaluate daily lesson plans for students to include scheduled activities & materials of modules. * Develops "in the community" Work-base Learning, job shadow & clinical training sites for students including a contractual agreement between student performance objectives to be achieved while at the training site. * Assists Career Transition Specialists in the placement of students in Work-base learning & job shadows activities. * Establishes an advisory committee which will include representatives from related business, industry, labor, professional organizations & other public and/or private agencies providing the same or related training & hold a minimum of four meetings during each school year. * Attends staff meetings & other meetings as required by the Director. * Plan instruction to achieve specific objectives based upon student need & established curriculum. * Evaluate the performance of students regarding achievements in curriculum & activities & make necessary provisions to meet learning needs. * Maintain student attendance & grades in accordance with established policies. * Prepare final grades at the end of each module to update student records. * Arrange & coordinate guest speakers, community service field trips, & visits to clinics & medical offices. * May assist with the inventory & ordering of supplies & equipment. Skills / Requirements
* Posess current MA certifications or other designations as required by local, state or federal laws to work in the field, & must be in good standings.
* Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. * 4 years of job-related training & experience is required for instructors who have not graduated from an accredited MA program. * 3 years of experience as a MA. * Must be able to work and interact with Youths ages 16-24 years of age. * Must be proactive and able to teach to different learning styles. * AZ State teaching certification or obtain within 12 months of hire * Obtain 1st Aid / CPR certification within 90 days of hire and maintain. * Working knowledge of instructional theory, basic education principles, practices & methodologies, the developmental process, competency-based curricula, & general classroom and lab practices. * Must be able to demonstrate required skills and abilities. * Possesses good organizational skills, knowledge of record keeping procedures, including the ability to collect & organize data & information. * Working knowledge of modem office practices & procedures, including applicable computer operations & software. (Microsoft Office. * Ability to establish & maintain appropriate levels of authority as well as creating an atmosphere of support & confidence for students. * Possess effective written & verbal communication skills. * Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, students & the general public. * Ability to work independently & to manage work assignments in a highly interpersonal contact environment. * Ability to deal effectively with stress caused by workload, deadlines, & situations as they occur. * Must be tactful, have good interpersonal skills & sound judgment.
