Complete Description:
This individual must be able to operate all routine radiographic angiography equipment in a safe and proficient manner to obtain diagnostic images and/or interventional treatment of a designated body organ or system, according to physician specifications. In doing so, positions patient and adjusts equipment to correct settings for each examination. In addition, the technologist will assist physicians in carrying out procedures by scrubbing in for sterile procedures and performing other associated duties. They must maintain their ‘in-compliance' registry status as set forth by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (R). They must abide by and enforce all compliance requirements and policies and perform these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values. This position requires initiative, the ability to make independent judgments and a positive attitude. The candidate must be able to produce high quality radiographs with a minimum of repeats. Must be able to handle multiple room assignments and all different types of exams on a daily basis. Must be able to communicate with physicians, patients, families, and ancillary hospital personnel. Will participate in performance improvement initiatives. Will assist with other activities as deemed necessary for the day-to-day operation of the department (i.e. clerical duties, inventory, stocking, light housekeeping duties, etc.). May participate in the training and orientation of other employees. Position may require cross training in additional modalities as directed by the Director of Imaging.
Will recommend repairs and work process efficiencies within their area and/or the department. Shares responsibility for the maintenance of efficient scheduling, patient flow and quality assurance, as well as having an alertness for fiscal soundness within the division.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

High School graduate or equivalent. Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA approved school and is registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiography, ARRT (R), current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Completes a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education bi-annually and remains 'in compliance' with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology's continuing medical education requirement (CME).

Minimum of two years experience after graduation in a major hospital setting.

Fully knowledgeable in diagnostic radiography, proficient in angiography/interventional radiology. Knowledge of surgery and mammography is a plus. Must possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patient and family rights, as identified within the hospital. Completes work within acceptable time limits (All overtime is pre-approved). Implements and maintains established department, unit, hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control. Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and unit function and strives to manage situations in a reduced risk manner. Demonstrates and monitors careful, efficient, and non-wasteful use of supplies and follows established charge procedures to provide patient care in a timely, cost-effective and cost-efficient manner. Consults or reviews written protocols to clarify uncertain aspects. Assures accurate account of charges for supplies, equipment and procedures. Performs several tasks simultaneously during peak workload situations. Performs efficiently and remains calm in emergency patient situations while following established hospital protocols.

Trains and mentors new personnel in each area.

Collaborates with physicians, radiologic technologists, and hospital staff to provide quality patient care. Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives. Collaborate with and receive direction from physicians to plan necessary changes in patient care as a result of new procedures, equipment etc. Collaborate with other departments to assure that equipment, and supplies are available to provide patient care.
