Devereux Arizona provides tools for children, adults and families with behavioral health and mental health needs to become successful members of the community. We are looking for a full-time BILINGUAL (ENGLISH/SPANISH) PARENT EDUCATOR for our Parents As Teachers program based out of our Chandler location. Schedule: Flexible hours between Mon-Sat (must be available evenings and/or weekends to meet with families when needed).

Once hired, this position requires 4 days of training (paid) and you'll need to be available for ALL days/times to be considered. Upcoming new hire orientations are as scheduled:
NOVEMBER NEW HIRE ORIENTATION: Mon, 11/9 - Fri, 11/13: 8:30am-5pm (Also Fri, 11/20 8:30am-5pm, if your CPR/1st Aid certification is over 1yr old).

The "Parents As Teachers" Program is provided through AZPAC (partnership between Devereux and Catholic Charities). The program is a free, voluntary home visiting program for kids 0-5 and their families.

Job Summary: Responsibility for contacting and engaging clients referred by the community; assessing needs of clients who accept services; developing case plans according to priorities found from both the family’s concerns and results of developmental and behavioral assessment; providing home visitation, parenting assistance, and needed services; addressing children’s needs and risks of child abuse and/or neglect in families; connecting families to community agencies.

Professional Skills:
• 1. Case Management: Responsible for following up with assigned referrals according to contract guidelines. Contact referred families to explain the program and engage families into services. Conduct behavioral and developmental assessments with new families. Develop service plans with families based on their assessments and concerns. Detain specific tasks aimed at producing desired outcomes. Review all cases with supervisor within 30 days of assessment; review service plan goals; make modifications when necessary. Actively participate in scheduled staff and team meetings. Collaborate with other involved professionals and family members to maximize effectiveness of the case plan and amend as needed. Close case when a) targeted goals have been satisfactorily addressed, b) the client requests case closure, or c) provision of service can no longer achieve goals. Complete documentation required for case closure.

• 2. Documentation: Responsible for all required documentation. Document all contacts in the case record according to AzPaC and contract guidelines; complete monthly reports as required. Must be accurate in compiling case records, completing required forms and other required reports.

• 3. Regulatory: Report suspected child abuse or neglect to Child Protective Services (CPS).

• 4. Treatment: Regularly provide screenings for children on caseload. Follow up with the results of the screenings. Make appropriate referrals to government and community agencies for needed assistance.

• 5. Community Support/Resource: Represent the program to the community, particularly potential referral sources. Responsible for making appropriate referrals to sub-contractors and other community agencies. Oversee and assist with group meetings, including training and support.

• 6. Professional Development: Attend training, conferences and other meetings as requested and assigned.

Skills / Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Development, Education, Family Studies, or related field. Minimum one (1) year experience in an early childhood setting required. Fully bilingual in English/Spanish required (will need to take assessment). Experience in family-centered practice and case management preferred.

-Pass DMV history check
-Pass Criminal background check
-Pass pre-employment physical
-Pass pre-employment TB test and required annual TB test (both showing evidence you are able to perform your job and free from TB)
-AZ Fingerprint clearance card (or eligibility to obtain with no restrictions)
-Drug test within 24hrs of offer w/ negative results

Physical Requirements: Significant and frequent amounts of walking, sitting, and standing.Frequent use of computers and office equipment. Normal hearing and vision. Routine light lifting of 10 lbs. or less. Frequent travel by automobile within Maricopa County. Hours: Irregular hours. Work Environment: Off site in client home environment. Client home environment may be without electricity, air conditioning or heat; may not be clean; may not have sufficient space for number of family members; may be extremely warm in the summer months; may not be handicap accessible, etc.
