Primary Function of the Psychiatrist: Monitors the provision of clinical services through Southwest Network. This includes conducting utilization review and supervision to clinical staff as well as direct services, such as psychiatric assessments and medication management. As with all members of our team, this position is expected, above all else, to support services to children and families that meet the following 12 Arizona Principles: •Collaboration with the child and family •Emphasis on achieving functional outcomes •Collaboration with others, including participation in unified assessment, planning and service approaches when children or families are involved with multiple systems •Access for children to a comprehensive array of sufficient behavioral health services to meet their needs •Best practices •Most appropriate setting •Timeliness •Services tailored to the child and family •Stability in placements •Respect for the child and family’s unique cultural heritage •Independence, and •Connection to natural supports. All members of our team are expected to practice in a manner that is consistently mindful of our Arizona Vision and Principles. Duties And Responsibilities of the Psychiatrist: •Participate in needs assessment, quality assurance/improvement, utilization review, case management and peer review programs as required by the Network and/or payor policies and procedures. •Develop and implement professional education programs for the Network. •Meet with Network and affiliate clinicians and consult as requested, with Network personnel concerning the clinical operation of the Network. •Assist in recruiting physicians and health professional affiliates tot he Network. •Provide on-call consultation after hours to clinical staff. •Represent the Network, as requested, in community and professional forums and government agencies. •Provide psychiatric coverage within the Network emergency psychiatric schedule. •Provide psychiatric assessments for second opinions per Network agency requests. •Provide ongoing psychiatric management of cases until transfer to an appropriate agency psychiatrist is completed. •Other duties as assigned. Skills / Requirements
Knowledge and Ability of the Psychiatrist:
Education and Experience: M.D. or D.O. degree; completion of an accredited residency in psychiatry (i.e., “board eligible”); board certified in psychiatry + child/adolescent psychiatry; current Arizona license to practice medicine. Important Notes
