An Assistant Human Resources Director is responsible for overseeing the following major work functions within the Human Resources Department: Employee Benefits, Safety Services and Workers' Compensation.
Duties of this class include: This classification also handles special projects assigned by the Human Resources Director and may act as the Human Resources Director in the absence of the Director. This position supervises and provides general strategic direction to the Employee Benefits Administrator and the Safety Services Administrator. Monitors and directs the efficient delivery of a comprehensive employee benefits program (including medical, dental, vision, Long-Term Disability, etc.) in a self-funded/self-administered operation; and monitors and directs the efficient delivery of a comprehensive safety and workers' compensation program in a self-funded and self-administered operation. The Assistant Human Resources Director receives administrative directions from the Human Resources Director who reviews work through conferences, reports and overall results achieved. This class is FLSA exempt-executive. This classification has been designated as a non-classified, non-merit system, at-will position. Skills / Requirements
Minimum Qualification(s) Required: Any combination of training, education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in personnel administration, public or business administration or a related field. Extensive (5+ years) professional experience in Human Resources, preferably in employee benefits, occupational safety or workers' compensation administration. A working knowledge of HIPAA guidelines is required. Three to five years of contract administration experience. At least five years of professional-level supervisory experience.
Preferred/Desirable Qualification(s): Certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or as a Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) is highly desired. Experience administering or coordinating a comprehensive, self-funded/self-administered employee benefits program, and/or occupational safety and workers' compensation programs is preferred.
