Job Description

Arizona's Children Association has a great opportunity for you to join our team as a Kinship Navigator to serve the Phoenix area.   




As a Kinship Navigator you will be responsible for helping kinship caregivers navigate various systems (DCS, DES, education, behavioral health, courts) and community resources. Our goal is to help the caregivers identify and remove barriers so that they are able to effectively utilize resources and supports to provide for the needs of the youth in their care. As the Kinship Navigator, you will meet with caregivers in the office or through home visits, collaborate with other community agencies, gather information on resources, facilitate kinship support groups, and attend CFT or IEP meetings. Your case load size is up to 25 families. Candidates with experience in kinship care (personal or professional) and those who are bi-lingual English and Spanish are HIGHLY preferred.

* Demonstrates knowledge of kinship care, children and families.   


* Organizes and coordinates meetings specific to the kinship population.   


* Supports kinship caregivers, groups, organizations, and institutions with identifying assets and needs. Nurtures emerging kinship caregiver leadership.   


* Assists in creating partnerships in the community.   


* Acts as a liaison between community building initiatives, bringing together people and programs to work alongside kinship caregivers.   


* Shares data and provides access to information about the kinship care. Collects and shares stories about kinship care and the building process.   


* Prepares monthly activity summaries and other appropriate reports for program and grant requirements.   


* Collaborates with other agencies and groups to provide services to kinship families.   


* Develops programs and educational materials for kinship care, and delivers trainings on kinship issues to a variety of audiences.   


* Provides screening and assessment, case management, information and referral; organizes events; and facilitates support groups for kinship families.   






* Must be 21 years of age (licensing requirement).   


* Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services or related field of study from accredited college or university required.   


* Bilingual in the English and Spanish languages preferred.   


* Familiarity and experience working with kinship families preferred.   


* Minimum one-year experience working in social services, education or related field required.   


* Must be willing to work a flexible schedule; regular evening and weekend hours may be required.   


* Possess a valid Arizona driver’s license and be insurable under the agency’s automobile policy.
