The job of Social Worker is done for the purpose/s of providing interventions related to both behavioral and academic success, referrals to District and community resources for students and/or families, facilitating communication between the District and families to enhance students’ learning environment, and supervising and facilitating on-site prevention services, related to both behavioral and academic success.

KNOWLEDGE (position requirements at entry):
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of programming to prove efficiency and effectiveness. Capable of practical problem solving and decision-making. Knowledge of community development and collaboration to build strong community relations and basic knowledge of grant process. Demonstrated oral and written English proficiency, demonstrated ability to network and work together with a variety of key individuals and groups. Knowledge of pertinent codes, policies, regulations, and laws is also necessary.
SKILLS (position requirements at entry):
SKILLS are required to multi-task and to upgrade in order to meet the changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: appropriate written and oral communication skills, time management, public speaking skills, data analysis, and the competence to complete necessary assignments by deadlines. Proficiency of the Spanish language is preferred.
ABILITY (position requirements at entry):
ABILITY is required to use basic job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others under a wide variety of circumstances. Able to work with a significant diverse population is required. Problem solving is required to analyze issues, create plans of action and reach solutions. Work with data of different types and/or purposes. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: meet deadlines and schedules, work under time constraints, adhere to safety practices, communicate with diverse groups, record keeping. Also, reliable transportation is necessary.
Positions in this class typically require: occasional lifting, carrying, some climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
