Robert Half Legal is assisting with staffing a team of proofreaders for upcoming positions with an international law firm based in Phoenix, AZ. Ideal candidates will have 3+ years of experience as a proofreader in a legal or other large corporate environment. High attention to detail is a must!

This position will begin the training process in February. However, interviews will be conducted before training begins. The role is expected to last 3+ months, and could convert to a full-time position with the client in 2020!  Candidates must be flexible as there are multiple shift openings.

Requirements

Requirements:
* Proofread complex legal documents for proper spelling, grammar and verbiage
* Review converted documents against originals to ensure an accurate conversion
* Measure dimensions, spacing and positioning of page elements to verify adherence to firm guidelines
* Complete full read/word-for-word proofreading of client submitted materials
* Perform cross reference and define term checks as requested
* Check corrected proof against prior copy to ensure all corrections were made accurately
* Conduct separate checks for format, text accuracy and statistical data
* Ensure that content of document is accurate, clear and complete and that the material is organized logically
* Advanced knowledge of standard proofreading marks
* Follow established policies and procedures at all times
* Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in English or related field or equivalent work experience required
* Knowledge of legal terminology and citation protocols (The Chicago Manual of Style, The Bluebook and California Style Manual)
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including expert level knowledge of the English language, grammar, spelling and punctuation
* Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite and other core applications
* Ability to work through complex legal document markups and instructions in a timely manner
* Ability to prioritize various requests and deadlines simultaneously
