Job Description

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the center
  • Supervise all employees and volunteers associated with LDSAC and senior nutrition programs
  • Organize, maintain, and follow through with all documents needed for grant & other funding
  • Hire all new staff in conjunction and with the Corps Officer’s approval
  • Process time card, sick leave and vacation request
  • Delegate work responsibilities in accordance with staff job descriptions
  • Handle all issues requiring disciplinary action, issuing oral and written notices when appropriate
  • Conduct all employee annual evaluations
  • Supervise, recruit and utilize necessary volunteer services to help reduce staff overtime whenever possible
  • Prepare invoices for corps accounting clerk
  • Prepare bank deposits
  • Set-up and Maintain all records for HDM and run the PHAROS Program
  • Input daily units of service for congregate meal, market shuttle, bus tickets and MSCO programs in PHAROS system for AAOA monthly program reports that are due by the 10th of each month
  • Prepare monthly statistical reports for The Salvation Army, & other funding sources
  • Comply with all program requirements from various funding sources
  • Prepare annual assessment
  • File incident reports for:
    • Worker’s compensation claims
    • Third party liability claims
    • General liability claims
    • Vehicle accident claims
  • Maintain and monitor vehicle maintenance records and expenses
  • Oversee all the ordering of supplies and purchases of the senior center keeping in line with the budget such as office supplies, food and kitchen supplies, janitorial supplies and activity supplies
  • Complete all contracts relative to Laura Danieli Senior Activity Center Program
  • Maintain the HDM participant Files
  • Work with case management on enrolling new clients, terminating clients, and keeping current records for each client
  • Provide daily signature sheets and address sheets for HDM drivers
  • Prepare all necessary documentation for monthly reports
  • Conduct program in accordance with all applicable standards of operation
  • Be responsible for the delivery of Home Delivered Meals by the hiring and overseeing of drivers.
  • Provide direction and initial training to all HDM drivers
  • Prepare and distribute satisfaction surveys to HDM clients and work with kitchen staff in developing solutions to any problems identified
  • Assist in packaging of HDM when needed
  • Organize and oversee the Thanksgiving HDM program by trying to recruit as many volunteers as possible
  • Oversee the registering of new congregate meal participants and update registration and emergency information cards as required
  • Prepare and Update the daily congregate meal signature sheets
  • Supervise and maintain a pleasant atmosphere in the dining room
  • Handle all problems with clients in a professional matter using the proper grievance forms
  • Assist with serving of meals as needed
  • Work with the Activity Coordinator and Food Manager in preparation, copying and distribution of monthly menu/ activity calendar
  • Arrange for client transportation services; provide information and referral assistance to seniors in completing social service applications and form
  • Maintain effective outreach programs – fliers, visits, telephone calls etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of cycle menus as required by the AAOA
  • Act as a representative of the senior center on special committees and councils
  • Assist Corps Officer with outreach goals and objectives and program publicity
  • Assist wherever else needed in the scope of this job and the senior center program

Skill / Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • College degree in Recreation Management, Social Work or related field
  • 3 years + experience in Recreation Management and Program Implementation
  • 3 years + experience in a management and supervisory role
  • 3 years + experience in working with seniors
  • Excellent working knowledge of computers and MS Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must currently possess or be able to obtain a Food Handlers card
  • Must currently possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must currently possess or be able to obtain a Fingerprint clearance card
